A few years ago, I created a simple doodle that evolved into something much more significant. It began with a sketch of a flower, which I sent to my husband as a digital note with the message, "Love You."
For me, drawing has always been a way to relax and find inner balance. Since I was seven years old, I've used art to cope with shyness, overwhelm, and anxiety. Turning these emotions into creative expressions has always been empowering.
Below, I share the original note intended for my husband to illustrate the progress of this artwork.
Note to Hippy
My husband loved the sketch and encouraged me to explore it further. HxHippy has always supported my artistic endeavors!
For the next iteration, I used Adobe Photoshop and Sketchbook Pro on my Huion Kamvas Pro 16 tablet. In Sketchbook Pro, I focused on the background using the blur brush feature. I painted blobs of various colors with the round brush tool and then shaped them into clusters resembling plants, flowers, shadows, and light using the smudger. The final touch was my favorite part—applying the blur brush.
After completing the background in Sketchbook Pro, I saved the file in a format compatible with Photoshop and continued working on it there.
Step 2: Digital Purple Flower Drawing by Meelie.art
In Photoshop, I completed the rest of the scene. To my surprise, it wasn't the purple flower that stood out the most but the elegant white daisies. The lighting on them was truly fascinating.
